The Motor Vehicle Dismantlers Association is a trade association operating in the UK. Their purpose is to represent the interests of the 200+ vehicle dismantlers who work throughout the country, as well as their customers. Founded in 1943, the MVDA balances promoting the interests of their members in the public forum and making sure that the vehicle dismantling industry doesn't have a negative impact on the environment.

In terms of the motoring public, the MVDA wants them to know that they can have peace of mind when using recycled auto parts. Through industry regulation, the public knows they can trust the Association members that they may deal with. The MVDA also works to ensure that members of the public have a legal and environmentally-sound way to dispose of vehicles that are no longer useful.

The MVDA also works with the government to ensure that any new legislation that will affect the industry is effective as well as practical. After legislation has been introduced, the MVDA will continue to provide feedback to the government in an effort to make sure that the aims of the new laws are realized in the real world.

An important requirement for all members of the MVDA is that they must operate in compliance with the regulations of the relevant Environment Agency. The members are required to be registered so that they will have access to the latest pollution control standards.

The MVDA works to promote the reuse of car parts. This goal is achieved by improving the quality of the parts used in the industry and the standards by which they are serviced. MVDA members are developing stronger connections with customers and the rest of the general public via the Internet and other forms of modern technology.

The MVDA is both a member and the current chair of the European Group of Automotive Recycling Associations. The MVDA maintains constant contact with the relevant organizations in Europe, both those at the Parliamentary level and those at the Commission level.
